![]() ![]() Even though the graphics are done in the style of a 90's arcade game, they are lovingly rendered and very creatively utilized.ĭon't expect a game that rides the bleeding-edge of gaming technology, but rather a classic with retro sensibilities.At the adventure's outset, you pick from six available characters: the Amazon, Fighter, Sorceress, Elf, Dwarf or Wizard. The music and graphics are very well done. Be warned that the game is pretty short, all things considered there are only 9 different areas to explore, all of which are are fairly linear. The game itself is intended to be a multiplayer (4 players max), and cross-networks with the portable version via the Playstation Network, where players can team up on adventures or duel each other in a battle royale! Fortunately, the single-player campaign is pretty immersive and engaging. There are six different playable characters, each of which have unique combat st yles, which offers the game a pretty hefty replay value. You gain experience and loot as you adventure, making yourself more powerful as you work your way deeper into the more challenging areas of the game. ![]() The game play is all very action oriented, requiring you to do real-time button combos to use special attacks or spells, and actively dodging the attacks of your foes. If you've never played a side-scrolling action RPG before, think of this game as a blend of Final Fight (or any of the old side-scrolling beat-'em-up games), and Diablo. I will admit, what drew me to investigate this game was the unique artwork, but when I discovered that it was a side-scrolling action RPG in the vein of Champions of Mystara, it was a no-brainer for me to pick up.
